Paul R. Pillat - President
Paul R. Pillat has served as the President of Transnational Ventures, Inc. since its inception in 1985. He has extensive experience providing strategic management, marketing, financial and investment advice to clients engaged in a wide variety of industries including banking, construction, distribution, manufacturing, service and software. In addition, he has assisted European companies and individuals with the establishment and management of their US subsidiaries and investments.
Paul was affiliated with a boutique Atlanta investment bank from 2000-2008 and represented them on numerous merger & acquisition transactions, corporate financings and strategic consulting assignments. In his earlier career, he was a principal with a large Atlanta based CPA firm and prior to that spent three years with the US Treasury Department’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Paul holds a BA degree in Economics from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. He is a Certified Merger and Acquisition Advisor, Certified Public Accountant and a licensed real estate broker. Paul has served as a director of several chambers of commerce and is currently an officer and director of several not-for-profit organizations.
Gary Melick – Managing Director
Gary Melick is a Senior Finance Executive with over 20 years experience of successfully driving growth and value enhancement through process and productivity improvements, strategic and financial leadership, and the effective integration of acquisitions. He has focused on ensuring that solid analytical foundations exist for driving business decisions, building key relationships with executives and business partners to drive consensus and opportunity, and implementing solid financial controls to ensure growth and profitability.
Gary devoted the first fifteen years of his career to managing accounting and finance teams primarily in top-tier consumer, franchise and restaurant companies. His most recent corporate role was as Vice President and CFO for a division of AFC Enterprises, with responsibility for all finance, accounting and planning functions for a 500 restaurant organization. During this time, Gary led the integration of the Cinnabon acquisition into his division, developed the brand’s strategic and operating plans, and was instrumental in reinvigorating the brand to achieve 30% growth in profitability in the first year of ownership. Prior to AFC Enterprises, he was Director of Corporate Planning for Advantica where he helped to successfully complete the financial and strategic restructuring of the company. Before that, Gary held various financial leadership roles with Pizza Hut, including both corporate planning and analysis positions and field financial management roles.
More recently, Gary has worked as an executive for an Atlanta-based investment bank and with a private equity partnership. In both firms, he has utilized his financial and operating expertise to advise dozens of companies on mergers and acquisitions, financing corporate growth, and improving productivity and profitability. His advisory work has covered a wide range of industries, including consumer products, restaurants, industrial and manufacturing, advertising specialty and promotional products, and distribution companies.
Gary was born in Iowa and holds a BBA degree in Management from Iowa State University and an MBA in Finance and Organizational Strategy from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been active in youth education and athletics, having worked as a guest speaker in several classrooms and having coached nearly 20 youth baseball teams in the Northwest Georgia Baseball Association and through the Wills Park Youth Baseball Association. Gary and his wife Diana have three boys and reside in Alpharetta, GA.
